In reply to <a href="https://www.thesportshistorian.com/history-of-little-league-baseball-and-softball/#comment-42473">Jean Tyler</a>.

Thank you, Jean. I appreciate the comment. Clearly, my original date of 1984 was wrong. I found organized Softball Little League in 1974 but have not seen your 1971 reference. I would love a link to the newspaper article, if you still have it.

Thank you again!

Softball Little League originate in a small village of New Berlin in 1971. We had over 80 girls participate along with coaches, sponsors, team shirts and umpires. There was quite a nice newspaper article written about us, I’m sure, because the Sport’s Editor has never heard of a Girls’ Softball League-the reason being because we pioneered it.

Great article! Thank you for the recap of how Little League Baseball and Softball came into being and how they have grown over the decades. It's easy to assume that these leagues have 'always been' because they are such an integral part of so many childhoods. Very interesting reading.
